I found this article by googling "Economics of Junk food"
While reading this I found very interesting what the statistics say and what people believe that "Consumers living on a tight budget in a bad economy often turn to fast food chains for inexpensive meals"
Just like the conversation in class we had about low-class people turn to Mcdonalds,Burger King, ect. I totally disagree with that because I believe "High class people dont go to Mcdonalds,Burger King, ect because they do think its healthy (Period). Not because its cheap or (To low class).

I learned that while eating less nutritional foods such as junk food while you are pregnant makes bad effects on you as well as the baby. I was shocked to read that because of the poor diet the mother had during pregnancy the child showed signs of depression and anxiety at as young as 3 years to 5 years old.

I found this website by searching "Economics of Junk Food" in Google, and it this website showed up and it caught my attention. It talks about how when people out of money they turn to junk food because its really cheap and its fast, but that it has so little nutrition value that its causing people to rapidly gain weight. Also it talks a little bit about how threes a slower economy if fast food restaurants don't constantly add new items to the menu.

I found this article by searching 'Economics of Junk Food' into Google. That article talks about how fast food restaurants market the portion sizes of their food and drinks. In the article it mentions how by labeling a product as regular or medium (size) it sort of tricks the consumer into thinking it is the perfect portion size for them.

You can find htis article by going to news.google.com and typing "junk food advertising" in the search bar.

Breifly, this article explains that fast foods ad, when aimed at kids, may not advertise the food as much as a toy product that comes with the food. This is because for a lot of children, the toy actually holds more allure than the product the company is hoping to sell (fast food). Because of this, children are developing poor eating habits from a young age.

They key words I used to find this article were " Junk food Branding" because I wanted to see how the branding of junk food changes are perspective. In the article it talks about an experiment done on pre schoolers where they would give them two of the same food items. One with the Mc Donalds brand just because everyone knows what it is. The second item is the same product with no special name brand on it. Automatically the kids picked Mc Donalds brand because it was better known not because it tasted any different.

I found this article by typing in the key words "junk food economics."

Studies prove that if you label food as "half portion, regular," or "double size (even though they're all the same sizes)," it affects how much the consumer will actually eat. If someone eats food of the "half portion" size, they will eat twice as much. If you label the food "regular," they will eat whatever is given. If you label the food "double size," they will leave about 10 times of their food on the plate. The amount of oz. in a soft drink have increased over the years of top fast-food chains. No matter how many oz. are in a cup size, as long as they stick to the medium size, the customer will think of themselves as virtuous (having higher moral standards), not knowing that the amount of soda they'll be drinking is way more than enough.

The article talks about the factors of a fast food industry. For example they tell us about some chains merge to grab more consumers. They also talk about how when the economy is low they tend to get more income from consumers because fast food is cheaper. It reminded me of a movie I watched with my team in 7th grade called Food inc.

I started by looking up "false advertising for junk food" I was looking for junk food that claims to be healthier but isn't. I found this article using McDonald's "oatmeal" as an example. There is actually a link included in this article that explains specifically about this "oatmeal" that is found here: http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/02/22/how-to-make-oatmeal-wrong/

This article includes statistics about false advertising and how often it actually happens. I also found an article that talks about how often TV advertisements play and how that is affecting children and what words and tricks they use to lure them in. That can be found here: http://www.fastfoodmarketing.org/media/FastFoodFACTS_360MarketingBriefs.pdf

I started looking into how all this advertising has affected children so I looked up "child obesity rates over the last 30 years" and found how they have spiked recently. I found this page, the video explains a lot as well. That link can be found here:http://www.sparkpe.org/blog/how-has-the-childhood-obesity-rate-changed/

Also while looking up "false junk food advertising" I found this really cool post about how fast food restaurants make their food look in advertisements, verses how they actually look in real life. This guy took pictures of different fast foods, taking the best angle, and put it next to the advertisement. The difference is incredible! He also found that the size that some fast food chains advertise would not fit in the box used to hold the food in when you buy it. It's not really a professional article but it is really cool to see. It can be found here: http://www.alphaila.com/articles/failure/fast-food-false-advertising-vs-reality/

I found this article by searching 'Junk Food', on the usnews.com. Lots of interesting articles came up but I found how they related junk food to drugs in their title interesting and didn't think that it could be that addicting.

But I was wrong. This article proves that junk food can be way more addicting than you think, and it isn't lack of self control. It's actually due to a physiological response called hedonic hunger. The article goes into detail of what that is and what it is caused by.

This article is about the food prices of fast food, (junk food) linked to the rates of obesity in people. This might refer to the different income people, and how the low income familie have a higher rate of obesity because of the lower prices of unhealthy junk food. Then, the high income families have a lower rate of obesity because they have more money to spend on healthier foods. Personally, i think that this should not be a problem, because low or high income, anyone should know what is healthy food or not. By spending so much money on fast food, and junk food, you are basically paying the same as if you were to always pay for healthy food.

As time progresses days food restaurants and junk food companies have made their serving sizes larger. A medium 12 ounce became a 30 ounce, but still remained labeled "small". Do these drastic changes cause obesity based on how they dictate out consumption of junk food?
