Reflection on Quizzes

4/26/2013

Congratulations, class!  We are done taking quizzes.

We've spent a great deal of time and effort learning how to prepare to take quizzes over the year.  Below, reflect on your experience in accordance to the following prompts in the comments section to this post.  Please try to add some specifics to your responses.

  • How do you feel about your quiz preparation since the beginning of the year?
  • If you could go back, is there any advice you would give yourself?
  • What can a teacher do to best help a class prepare for math quizzes?
  • Is there anything you'll do in future math classes to be successful when taking quizzes?

These reflections not only help  frame where you've been and where  you're going, but also provide feedback to help me become a better educator.  I look forward to reading your responses.

1My personal preparation has not improved a great deal. Thanks to the resources Andrew provides us my test taking skills have improved, such as the practice quizzes and basic skills sheets, but I don't do anything outside of that to help myself.
2. Honestly, I wouldn't tell myself anything. I believe I did a great job on the quiz and I'm not worried about my grade. But, that being said, extra preparation never hurts. I might tell myself to make note cards and practice problems of my own and try solving them.
3. I think everything Andrew is doing now is perfect. Practice problems along with heavy review on the board go a very long way in making sure that we understand the topic at hand. I was extremely ready for this test just because of our in class preparation.
4. I will definitely request extra practice problems. If that's not an option I can always do the same math problems from a homework sheet more than once to test if I get the same answer.

1.Since the beginning of the year, I have definitely started taking quizzes/exams more seriously. I tend to have a, "you can do it, don't worry about it," kind of attitude, and maybe its because of pure laziness, but I just don't study. After the first quiz, I realized that it might be a good idea to. So, my quiz preparation from the beginning of the year has gone from, just about none to reviewing homeworks and helping others with concepts that I may understand, but they don't. Teaching/helping is a great way to study a concept.

2. I would tell myself to take notes and not just attentively listen during lectures. Taking notes while someone is talking helps you stay fully focused on what they are saying.

3. A teacher can provide resources, like extra homeworks, worksheets, study guides- etc. Something that Andrew did that I really liked was tell us in advance exactly what was going to be on the quizzes, so I knew exactly what to study and go over.

4. In future math classes, I will make an effort to maintain nice notes that I can go over. Also using other resources, like kahn academy for extra help and practice.

-The way I feel about my quiz prep in the beginning of the year is not very good I didn't really study then and I had a lot of trouble with this class. I felt like the teaching styles were most the most compatible to the way I learn and I understood that I had to change the way I needed to learn so that I could better my grade.

- I would tell my self to not get so frustrated and to make sure that math was my top priority instead of humanities.

-Well I feel like there could be many things but if I encountered another math class like this one I would ask for more work so that I could continue to have different types of these questions to help me have a variety of situations that I might encounter.

3. I feel like a teacher should give a good amount of time before the test so that students can study and redo questions that they had gotten in the homework.

• How do you feel about your quiz preparation since the beginning of the year?
In think that in the beginning of the year I did prepare a lot for quizzes but didn’t really understand. I think that It was kind of the same with this last quiz because I think that I tried to prepare a lot with this last quiz I felt like I understood it but at the moment that I was taking the quiz I didn’t really understand it.
• If you could go back, is there any advice you would give yourself?
Something that I would tell myself is to practice a bit more I think that’s all.
• What can a teacher do to best help a class prepare for math quizzes?
I think that something that helped me a lot was getting one on one help because I think that’s something that helps me understand the topic more. I think that what worked out the best for me was getting help from the teacher not from the tutor because the teachers’ way was better how he explained it to me.
• Is there anything you'll do in future math classes to be successful when taking quizzes?
I am not sure.

1) This year has been the first year ever that I have needed to prepare for quizzes. I have never had to in the past because I was so good at math and i understood all the topics. It was hard to prepare for something that I didn't understand.
2) I would tell myself to ask for more help. I was trying to understand something all by myself and it wasn’t working. I ended up failing a lot of the quizzes because of that even though i had tried to prepare days before the quiz.
3) I think that teachers need to go from simple subjects of math to hard subject. When we were doing this math we were just kind of thrown into something that we haven't ever learned before. We didn't really get any background or we weren't able to get the basics down before we learned the hard stuff. The hard stuff was just kind of given to us.
4) I don’t know if I will have to prepare differently. I need to get a tutor because trying to learn math on my own is way too hard.

I feel that my quiz preparation has improved greatly. I studied three times as hard as i did previously. Asked more question in class. Went to class mates and teachers to help me with every single question i had and making sure i got them answered. I practiced way more than i did before. I practiced everyday instead of hopefully still having the memory of days before.

If i could go back, i would tell myself to do what i did in this last quiz, for every quiz previously. Before i did not ask questions and just hopefully get them answered last minute. I need to make sure i have it in my head and know it on the back of my hand. I don't want to try and memorize everything all at once right before the test because it just confuses me. i need to go one step at a time and take time to get it all in my head before i move on to the next question or concept.

I think doing problems we need help on on the board really helps. I have a chance to get my confusion cleared and i can practice what i learned. I like the practice worksheets because its great practice.

What i will do in future quizzes is to do what i last did. It worked and i felt very confident going into this quiz and it was effective for me.

How do you feel about your quiz preparation since the beginning of the year?
I wouldn't say my preparation techniques have changed much this year. I pretty much have been 'preparing' myself for quizzes the same way I always have.
If you could go back, is there any advice you would give yourself?
No not really .

What can a teacher do to best help a class prepare for math quizzes?
I think one of the most helpful things are practice quizzes because it shows us what will be on the upcoming test .
Is there anything you'll do in future math classes to be successful when taking quizzes?
No probably not .

1) I feel that my quiz preparation was good but it could have been better, and through the year I have improved a lot of not really studying at all to now focus on upcoming tests and study as much as you can
2) If I was to go back and give myself some advise it would be to study more and and focus on these test because then you wouldn't have to worry about having a bad test grade and that led on to stress about grade at math overall.
3) Well lets use you Andrew for this answer. To me you have trained and prepared me enough for a test and most of the times you give us the answers or heads up when we are reviewing for a test by saying you should write this down. Another thing is that the way you teach us awesome and I think the way you prepare us should be how a math teacher should prepare his students so they can succeed.
4) In the future I plan to study when I must and even study the minuet the teacher tells us that a test is coming up because that will get me prepared to do well on this test and many future tests in any subject.

1.) How do you feel about your quiz preparation since the beginning of the year?
I still believe my quiz preparation is lacking as it was to begin the year, just look at my grades on quizzes. The reason for this though is because I used to test very well, then one day I started doing bad at test, and the free-fall still continues. What's evidently very odd is that I get about a 10 on every homework, but do dismally on the test.
2.) If you could go back, is there any advice you would give yourself?
I wouldn't go back even if I could; I've learned so much throughout the school year both inside and outside of class, and these things are shaping my direction, creating my path in which I'll walk. Going back to tell myself something like, "do better on the test", would be downright sabotage, maybe not to my grades, but definitely to the road I'm following.
3.) What can a teacher do to best help a class prepare for math quizzes?
A teacher could ask me, personally, how I'm doing regarding the concept(s) we're learning, but another thing is understand I don't test well. For a class: I can't decide that for them. We're all different, all learn differently, so I have no say in that. For myself, I'm either really cocky before a test, or really unconfident in my ability of the concept, and both ways have led me the same way: failing my test. Last year it was because I was "lazy", a good student, a good kid, as Jake put it, but "lazy". This year I tried harder, and it didn't pan out so my argument could be: I'm terrible at math.
4.) Is there anything you'll do in future math classes to be successful when taking quizzes?
Study more, calm my nerves, take personal time off to get help; I could write a book (about 20 pages possibly) on what I could do to do better. All that matters is if I'll do it. I better, because this last test proved one thing otherwise: I'm going to fail trigonometry. Which I hope not, math was the main thing keeping me from at least my goal of a 3.6 GPA (before the "BUST" project mind you).

How do you feel about your quiz preparation since the beginning of the year?
throughout the whole year I've been sorta slacking in math, but I would still do average. I think my quiz preparation is not good, except once and I did awesome not just average.

If you could go back, is there any advice you would give yourself?
What can a teacher do to best help a class prepare for math quizzes?
There is no going back so there is nothing I have to say or tell myself to do.

Is there anything you'll do in future math class to be successful when taking quizzes?
something to do to be more successful is not getting distracted and actually study before a quiz.

Blog Post HW:
Q. How do you feel about your quiz preparation since the beginning of the year?
A. I feel, my quiz preparation has improved tremendously since the beginning of the year. I think I have become more contentiousness of my quiz performances and I study harder and ask for more help from my teachers.
Q. If you could go back, is there any advice you would give yourself?
What can a teacher do to best help a class prepare for math quizzes?
A. The advice I would give myself is; don't rely on just your teacher. I think that I learned more than enough to help me through my peers and a textbook.
Q. Is there anything you'll do in future math classes to be successful when taking quizzes?
A. Study over and over and over with the teacher on the board like I do with Andrew. I feel that is really helpful and almost treats math like a pattern, and gets me to memorize the formulas / equations.

1) I think that in the begginning of the year I didn’t prepare for the quizes at all because I thought that I would be able to correct my quizes and redo them. Then once I failed one of my quizes I realized that I would have to be getting a good grade on the tests the first time or my grade would dramatically drop. So then I made sure I really studied super hard to get a decent grade on each tests that followed after that. And now at the last one I feel that I have dramatically improved on my quiz preperation skills ie coming in for help and getting practice problems.
2) I would tell myself to stop being an idiot and study. I was waaay too laid back in the beginnging of the year and I feel that it really killed my grade. So that would probably be my main piece of advice
3) Just by giving me practice problems and helping being avalible fro help before after and during school.
4) Definetly asking for more help and paying more attention to the lessions ie taking better notes. I could also get supplement problems so I’m constantly practicing even when I’m not in class

1. How do you feel about your quiz preparation since the beginning of the year?

At the beginning of the year I had that whatever mentality because I assumed that the homeworks would keep my grade up (If I failed a math test) high enough so I wouldn’t go to summer school. But now I realized that I can not do that forever, and now I study more and ask for help when I’m confused on something.

2. If you could go back, is there any advice you would give yourself?

To study much more and stay after school for extra help by asking the teacher.

3. What can a teacher do to best help a class prepare for math quizzes?

The teacher could provide extra materials, like a preparation worksheet, and tell us what’s going to be on the quizzes.

4. Is there anything you'll do in future math classes to be successful when taking quizzes?
Make sure I have a basic understanding of the math first and if I don’t ask my peers. Also study more and look online for worksheets of the math material.

1) At the beginning of the year my emotions in regard to math was high since I had Jake last year as my teacher. I was so used to Jake's teaching styles and how he ran his class, but then I realized that Jake wasn't my teacher anymore.

2) I would tell myself to try an adapt to the new math environment, and become more confident in the surroundings around me. Plus study more.

3) I think the teacher should give out more practice quizzes and actually sit down with each individual student to really get the feel of how their doing. Because just speaking to the class all together doesn't necessarily mean that everyone gets it.

4) First make sure I understand the content, if not try to ask questions (teacher and peers); if the teacher doesn't help I can always go to other math teachers (past teachers), or online help.

1. How do you feel about your quiz preparation since the beginning of the year?

I feel that I prepare quite enough for my quizzes using the homework and the quiz prep handed to us. Although I don't study much, I think everything that is given to us is enough to receive a good grade on the test.

2. If you could go back, is there any advice you would give yourself?

If I would go back, I would probably pay closer attention to the smaller stuff that can be given to us on the quizzes, like the challenge questions, or other extra criteria.

3. What can a teacher do to best help a class prepare for math quizzes?

I don't really think Andrew can do anymore than what he already does to help us. The things he does already are sufficient to help us get enough practice for these quizzes. He basically gives us homework and the next day gives us the answers to the homework, which is always a big help, especially with those complicated problems.

4. Is there anything you'll do in future math classes to be successful when taking quizzes?

I think for my future math classes I will try to understand each problem that might be on the quizzes so i can be able to manipulate the problem in different ways. I also should pay more attention to all those extra/ challenge problems the teacher might give us.

How do you feel about your quiz preparation since the beginning of the year?
I felt, that coming into this year I kind of knew where I was, as far as quiz prep and where I wanted to be. I feel that I established a good relationship with my teacher and I made it very clear that I wanted to do well in math particularly on the quizzes. At the beginning of the year I also would come in and get help on quizzes and I carried that through out the year because I found that if I didn't go over the curriculum with my teacher I just didn't do as well. I think it has a lot to do with practice, repetition, and understanding the concept. Over all I clearly know the ones I prepared for and the ones I didn't, it is very clear in the gradebook.

If you could go back, is there any advice you would give yourself?
The advice I would give myself would have to be at the beginning of this semester, because I didn't go in and study as much for the tests thinking I would get by and I didn't. I need to remember to stick with what works for me and what is the best way of learning for me as an individual.

What can a teacher do to best help a class prepare for math quizzes?
I think that offering afterschool/additional help on the math that a teacher is teaching is really helpful. I also think that giving out prep quizzes that have problems that are similar to the test really help. It gave me a chance to practice problems on my own and then go over it with someone else and see what I knew and didn't know.

Is there anything you'll do in future math classes to be successful when taking quizzes?
I will make sure to go and establish a relationship with that specific teacher, and see what I can do to be successful in their class. As well as doing what works for me which is, going in for help, practicing, repetition, taking notes and making sure I understand the notes.

1. Ever since the beginning of the year, I have been preparing more and more for quizzes as I've realized how important they were and how much of an impact they have on my grade. However, I still feel like I need to control my study habits more in preparing for tests and exams.

2. If I could go back and give myself any advice, it would be to prepare more for upcoming quizzes as well as pay attention to the content being taught, as everything you learn will all be connected and that all the topics will just get more difficult as you advance throughout the year.

3. The best thing a teacher can do to prepare a class for a quiz or test, is to create plenty of review time in class and after class, as well as solve problems with the whole class that are similar to what will be on the quiz so the students know what to expect.

4. Some things I'll do in future math classes is to ask the teacher more often for help on a subject if I am not understanding it fully, as I would gain a more personal experience and understand the content more fully. I would also study and prepare more often for quizzes and tests.

1) Since the beginning of the year, my quiz preparation has gotten a lot better. Im not sure why but I felt a lot more motivate, the past couple of quizzes. I the beginning of the year I would sometimes do the bare minimum to study and feel like I knew the subject, but once quiz time came I forgot about most the stuff I learned.
2) I would tell my self to write down key formulas and notes, because I found it helps to remember it later.
3) I honestly think your current quiz setup is greatly helpful. I think that the most helpful is the day for review, because on that day I see if I actually know what Im doing, and if I don't I have plenty of recourses.
4)Study more independently. Also I like to learn a subject at a slower pace, instead of all at once, it helps me to remember it later.

In the begininning of the year I think that I felt to overly confident about my understanding of the math that we were doing and thats why I barely studied. As the year progressed I came to realize that the studying I wAs doing was not enough. I then started to prepare better And that reflected on my quiz grades.
I would tell myself that I needed to put more effort into the things I do and force myself to take more notes and also to try harder. I think these things would have helped me alot.
I think that the most helpful thing you did for us was gving us practice tests. That helped me out the most. Your current system works very well and you really do help me alot to prepare.
In future math classes I will start to take more notes and put in alot of effort from the start. I will take more time in order to prepare for the tests.

1)How do you feel about your quiz preparation since the beginning of the year?I feel that near the end of the year I've began to slack off on test preparation. I don't think its because I've grown cocky or something but instead I think I got use to the way you write the test. Also I feel a lot more confident in myself.
2)If you could go back, is there any advice you would give yourself? Not really, I would probably say, "Keep up the good work you handsome devil ;)"
3)What can a teacher do to best help a class prepare for math quizzes? Practice test and work sheets. Giving lots of verity of the problems helps the class to farther understand the problems.
4)Is there anything you'll do in future math classes to be successful when taking quizzes? Relax more. When I don't feel confident in that subject, I start to freak out. When I freak out, I make simple mistakes.

1. My quiz preperation has not improved since the begining of the year, in fact I think it got worse. Since so many things overwhelmed me I couldn't find the time to really understand the subject we studied. Also there were not much people who could help me with the work or subject.
2. The advice I would give myself would be to talk more to the teachers and get some help with the work. I tried different resources, but nothing really helped me uderstand.
3. I think helping the students better understand the work. Because I was lost most of the time, trying to understand the subject. So explaining the little things and how instead of what, when you explain how to solve it. Most of the times I don't know how you get to certain points. Explaining that would help a lot.
4. Well I think i'll try as hard as I can to understand, and when I'm absent i'll make sure to get help on what I missed. I'll try to really understand and if I don't i'll try to get help from teachers or other people.

How do you feel about your quiz preparation since the beginning of the year?

At the beginning of the year I rarely took time to study for quizzes because I was overconfident in myself and it took me a few bad quiz scores to make realize I need to study more. I began to study more at home especially on the night before a quiz but then I decided if I manage my time better in class I wouldn't have to study at home, so that's what I do now.

If you could go back, is there any advice you would give yourself?

Take all the supplemental work and use class time wisely.

What can a teacher do to best help a class prepare for math quizzes?

Provide supplemental work, go over the homework as a class, pop quizzes, and give practice tests that have examples of the problems that will be on the quiz.

Is there anything you'll do in future math classes to be successful when taking quizzes?

In future math classes I will manage my time better in class and ask for supplemental work.

1) How do you feel about your quiz preparation since the beginning of the year?

Towards the beginning of the year I spent a lot of time studying and preparing outside of class. I would reread my notes over and over again trying to memorize the formulas and equations. I found this helpful but I realized later that I would forget the material right after the quiz. Second semester I used class time to fully understand the topic rather than memorizing it. I realize this prepares me much more. I learned where and when to use each method which helps me understand why it works. Also in second semester, I started doing all my homework in class so I could ask questions to strengthen my understanding. I used this to help others with math problems which also deepened my knowledge.

2) If you could go back, is there any advice you would give yourself?

I would tell myself to try and understand how to apply each concept. This way I would thoroughly know how and why it works. I would tell myself to ask for word problems which would help me connect the methods to real world examples. I think now that I know how to prepare myself, I will be able to use these tips/advice I would have given myself for the future.

3) What can a teacher do to best help a class prepare for math quizzes?

Many people in my class would say a teacher could help most by giving lots and lots of repetitive problems to reinforce the subject. I, however, would say a teacher would be the most helpful working with students to understand how to apply a concept/equation/formula to real life things. When students understand why something might be helpful in the future, they are more interested in learning it. I think that if there was a way for teachers to tell students how, why and when to use a certain concept in the real world, the students would start to understand it more because they will realize its importance.

4) Is there anything you'll do in future math classes to be successful when taking quizzes?

I will use my class time more efficiently to study and get work done. I would do the worksheets in class so I will always have somebody to answer my questions. I will ask for application problems that will help me understand when and how to use each concept. Also, and possibly most importantly, I will work on checking my work. This is what usually gets me on quizzes, I don’t look over my answers and end up with stupid little errors that cost me my grade.

1. How do you feel about your quiz preparation since the beginning of the year?

I feel the amount of time I spend preparing for a test varies on the subject. In the beginning of the year the topics were easier, so I spent more time in class preparing than outside because I felt I understood it pretty well. As the year wore on and the subjects got more difficult, I would try and study more outside of class. All in all, my preparation has increased some, but not by a great amount.

2. If you could go back, is there any advice you would give yourself?

Try not to worry about the final grade. I know the pressure for good grades is always looming over head can really stress some of us out, but we need to focus on the here and now just as much as the future outcome. If we don't understand the concept and how to apply it, how will we know how to use it later? Also, making use of the resources available. If we don't understand, we need to ask for clarification.Teachers are there to help us learn for a reason.

3. What can a teacher do to best help a class prepare for math quizzes?

I think what you have been doing, especially this past semester, has helped a lot of us improve. Practice tests and works sheets are great, but going over the concept in class with a demonstration and allowing people to ask questions gives us a better understanding. As Britton mentioned, relating the concept to real world aspects is also helpful for reinforcing the subject's importance. Geometry is essential if you want to pursue a career as a 3-D animator or an architect.

4. Is there anything you'll do in future math classes to be successful when taking quizzes?

Take the work seriously, but not so serious as to cause unnecessary stress. Also, taking ample time to prepare for quizzes, both inside and outside of class. Asking questions when I don't understand the concept is another big one, and above all to relax once in a while. At the end of the day a grade is a grade, but a grade is not the only thing important in the world, nor is it the only thing that reflects or defines you.

At the beginning of the school year, I didn't have good quiz grades, but as I went along my quiz grades went up. I think this is because I am understanding the materials better, and we go over problems in class and have more time to practice.
If you could go back, is there any advice you would give yourself?
Ask for help. Asking questions in class really helped me this time around so, I would tell myself to ask for help. Whether it be from peers or other teachers.
What can a teacher do to best help a class prepare for math quizzes?
Making sure to go over it in class with the students, and ask if the class needs help on specific areas.
Is there anything you'll do in future math classes to be successful when taking quizzes?
I could ask the teacher for more math problems to make sure I fully understand the concept they are teaching or ask them to go over problems I don't understand.

I don’t think my quiz preparation has changed at all. I didn't expect that to be my answer but after thinking it over, I realize that it’s true. The practice quizzes and worksheets helped but no more than any other year and while working problems out slowly and writing every step down does help a lot, it’s not enough to get a perfect score on tests. There’s always something I’ve missed or some odd ball question that throws me for a loop on the test. This has happened every year since middle school and I’m still not sure how to deal with it.

I’d probably tell myself to try and create a mental system for cataloging math-y memories. Like a mind palace but only for math.

1. Make the worksheets and practice tests look similar to the actual test. This helps students see the test as just another worksheet and not something to worry about.
2. Give context, and not just math context. Conceptual math is hard to understand and not interesting to people who don't love math. Dedicate a little time in class turning the math concepts into a story. Who discovered it? How did the person discover it? What was that person like? Were they popular? Did anyone disagree with them? Make it relatable, re-tellable, memorable, and interesting.

In the future I’d like to try what I mentioned about the mind palace thing. . . I have no idea what will come of it but it’d be an interesting experiment nonetheless. Plus, I enjoy psychology much more than I enjoy math so if I can combine those two things maybe I can learn to enjoy both.

1) from the begging of the year until now my test preparation has gotten a lot better. I really didn't not care about reviewing for a test or studying all I cared about was getting a decent grade. I now understand that studying for a test will help in the long run. It reduces stress by not waiting till the last minute. I feel that I can study better for a test now, because I now have better resources.

2) if I can go back and give myself advice I would tell myself to start studying since day 1. I usually wait until the last couple of days or the day before a test to actually study. I get the concept but at the minimal thinking. If I could study since the day of the concept I can get 30/30 on every test.

3) I think the teacher can give us more test preparation quizzes and handouts. They can also give us a sample of what is going to be on the test. Sometimes the homeworkers are easier but the test are a lot harder. Also we need more time to work on the homework.

4) I'm going to take the homeworks more serious and take better notes.

If you could go back, is there any advice you would give yourself? Study more and more for each test, and get additional help from resources such as peers and teachers more often.

How do you feel about your quiz preparation since the beginning of the year?
At the beginning of this year, i wasn't really preparing for quizzes mostly because i knew all of the content we were learning. I really enjoy math so it came easy to me and it really wasn't necessary for me to do well on the quizzes.

If you could go back, is there any advice you would give yourself?
Not at the beginning of the year, as I said it's pretty easy for me and a lot of the math at the beginning and even the middle of the year was pretty easy for me.

What can a teacher do to best help a class prepare for math quizzes?
I believe the tool that best helped me was the papers that had the examples on the back that broke down step by step what to do. When their was a concept I was stuck on, I could come back to that, not only see what it meant but actually how to solve it.

Is there anything you'll do in future math classes to be successful when taking quizzes?
From this point on, I'm going to do my best to study a little bit so in case I don't remember things the extra practice will kick in. I also believe I need to ask more questions to the teacher, because a lot of times I'm already sitting next to people and I will just ask them. Occasionally, the information I might get will either not help me or confuse me.

How do you feel about your quiz preparation since the beginning of the year?
In the beginning of the year I feel like I didn't do much to prepare for the quizzes. There wasn't much to study from except a few of my notes and maybe some homework. I feel like this semester I have changed a lot in studying and preparing for quizzes. But one thing that hasn't changed is that I always take notes in class because last year at my old school we had to so I'm used to it and it helps me a lot.

If you could go back, is there any advice you would give yourself?
Use my free tome more wisely and actually try to study the concept we were learning. Also to use my class time to ask questions if I needed help.

What can a teacher do to best help a class prepare for math quizzes?
I feel like something a teach can do to help prepare for a math quiz is to make sure every student understands the concept. This could be hard for some teachers because they could be going at their own speed and not check if other students fully understood the concept. Also maybe they could give out practice test like you did a few times so that the students know what is to come on the real test.

Is there anything you'll do in future math classes to be successful when taking quizzes?
Probably go and ask the teacher for help like after class or lunch if I need a little more help. I would also like to study more and just go over everything until I feel comfortable enough in what I'm learning.

How do you feel about your quiz preparation since the beginning of the year?
I think since the beginning of the year my study habits have majorly improved. In the beginning of the year i didnt study very much, now i know what study habits work for me and help me laern the most.
If you could go back, is there any advice you would give yourself?
I would tell how to study well, not just study alot. I would also tell myself to write better notes and take pictures of what andrew wrote on the board
What can a teacher do to best help a class prepare for math quizzes?
I belive that a math teacher can draw diagrams of thought, showing what to do step by step. A teacher can also give practice problems and practice tests.
Is there anything you'll do in future math classes to be successful when taking quizzes?
On future test i plan to ask the teacher if i can use a cheat sheet. I also will find the most important material and study it rather than trying to remember everything

In general , my quiz prep has been really good since the beginning of the year. To me the important thing is studying two nights before. Studies have shown that if you study consistently for a shorter amount of time, your rememberance of the topic, will be better. If you cram the night before, you will remember it better the next day, but your memory of it will fade quicker. I try to study two nights before, then cram the night before to maximize my knowledge on the topic. I also have a policy. If I can’t teach someone the subject, or in other words if I can’t completely rely on myself before the test, then I consider myself unprepared. This may sound simple but many people go into tests not understanding the concepts
If I could go back I would myself to watch out for the first tests right after a break. I am most vulnerable during these tests because I am not used to preparing for tests after a break. If you look at my test scores you’ll notice that my worst scores were the first test after winter break and summer break.
I think the best thing a teacher can do is to review the content every day. It is much harder for the brain to absorb information when you are only learning it every other day. Also practice. It is very important to understand the topics deeply, but you cannot know it until you have really done it. It’s like in the Matrix, Neo can dowload a file on kung fu into his mind, but how can he actually do it with no muscle memory practice.
I think the most important thing I learned from test taking this year is the importance of practicing two days before. This helped me a lot this year.

1.At the beginning of the year all i would do to prepare is do the classwork and I have learned that is not enough I started staying after school and getting help with math and preparations my scores doubled from the last quiz which is a great improvement
2.Get all the help you can get from the start and get as much practice materials.
3.Extra Work and Practice Quizzes
4.STUDY! Get Help When Needed! Work Hard!

1)How do you feel about your quiz preparation since the beginning of the year?
I feel that my quiz preparation improved a lot since the beginning of the year. I remember before i actually never studied for test or quizzes i would always just try to do the test without out studying and hope i passed.Thats pretty much how i always taken test, but after a while i started to realize that what i was doing wasn't working in your class because the quizzes were such a huge part of our grade it was effecting my grade a lot. Now what i do to prepare for a test is to study and to make sure i get extra help with any problems i dont get. Getting extra help has worked for me a lot because im able to understand the concepts a lot more. What i also do now to prepare for test is to take notes i used to not do that either but now i do.
2) If you could go back, is there any advice you would give yourself?
If i could go back i would give my self a lot of advice like make sure i get help and study. Dont just think that you can just take the quiz and you will still pass the class.
3) What can a teacher do to best help a class prepare for math quizzes?
Make sure that the teacher goes over the concept step by step until everyone understands the concept, and also make sure that the students understand each step. Dont just teach a concept 1 day and then not come back to it again, that will make everyone forget about how to go about solving it. Make sure the day after you cover to go over it before you start off the next lesson. Practice problems always help and so do practice quizzes.
4) Is there anything you'll do in future math classes to be successful when taking quizzes?
I will make sure to get help if i dont understand something and i will make sure to study for any upcoming test in the future. I will also be taking plenty of notes and i will make sure to go over them.

1)I feel that my quiz preparation has changed drastically since the beginning of the year. At the beginning of the year I didn't study nearly as much as I did by the last test.
2) For sure I would have told myself to study as much as I did for tests where I got good grades on, because I had a good amount of bad grades and I believe it was due to my study habits.
3) Well for sure take my study habits more serious, but also look at my quiz when I get them back and look at what I got wrong because a lot of the time I would get it back and just put it in my binder not looking at each wrong question I got.
I know its late but even If you don't count it towards my quiz, I will understand due to my lateness Sir.

1. My quiz preparation from the beginning of the year was just do all the homework. Doing so much including the challenge problems. Everything we learned was just engraved into my head with all the problems we did. I did good in the quizzes. That's how I got prepared for the quizzes, without even knowing.
2. Do the blog post. Do the blog post. Do the blog post. Do the blog post. Do the blog post. Do the blog post. DO THE BLOG POST!
3. Ask students to do problems on the board, and ask them to walk you through it. When learning terms always give the definition. When walking through the problems explain every step because I would get lost in the process if I didn't get tutoring after school.
4. Go back and check my work for simple mistakes that I could have made. Do the blog post if any.
